Default Cleaning a CAT?

Has anyone heard about a product called CataClean? Its a UK product, that cleans the cat. I know its pretty far fetched but i've also read about running the engine rich (or lean dont remember) to "clean" the cat? I have a bad OEM cat that I'm willing to try to clean.. what if! Its not clogged I was just receiving a P0420 code.

well, I know running it rich will just get the cat even dirtier since it's sending unburned gas through the exhaust, running it lean won't clean the cat either, it might keep it from getting worse, but the car will run so bad you won't be able to drive it

if the cat's already bad I'd say you have nothing to lose if you try that Cataclean, assuming you can even get it in the US

This is interesting. The ingredients are listed as:
  • 30 to 60 percent Xylene (CAS # 1330-27-7)
  • 10 to 30 percent Propan-2-ol (CAS # 67-30-0)
  • 10 to 30 percent Acetone (CAS # 67-64-1)
  • 5 to 10 percent Distillates (Petroleum) Hydrotreated light (CAS # 64742-47-8)

Who's going to make a batch?

My cat does that too but she usually likes to do it in the kitchen sink under the faucet.

tifreak is right. Running rich will not clean it. Well, you have a bad OEM cat so might as well practice with it.
