Mainly because i don't want to have to custom order axles, these are hard enough to find. That way if i do snap another i dont have to custom order a replacement just get oem

Near as I can tell, BMW only uses a couple different CV bolt patterns, would be an interesting exploration to a U-Pullit..

If your already going to the so much work to space frame and build double wishbones, heck just use a large case rear diff, add the mount points and pick the parts to use the 7 series brakes axles and diff.. Thinking furthur,, I wouldnt even use a BMW rear, I'd order a Dutchman (http://www.dutchmanaxles.com) IRS 8.8/9" or use the rear out of an ford SUV several are now IRS, so you can have a good locker and a diff that has many gear options. changing the CV style rear axle lengths is trivial cut it over-tube it weld it done. 1 hour job. The Dutchman rear uses 935 CV joints, so easy to get and theire are knock offs that are good quality and relatively cheap.

I'm building a whole new frame. The TI uses the small case diff so going to a large case would kill any acceleration I have getting different axles would be a pretty simple idea to most. But think about the fact then your suspension has to increase as well, the throw the current suspension has is perfect for the car. I could limit. But you also have to look at the part that a longer armed suspension has to be stronger, shorter arms mean less material to obtain a the same strength. And as it sits the suspension has a fairly large amount of movement compared to other cars, changing to a double wishbone it will gain even more throw.

The front will be very simple. Its a basic version of a single wishbone already. Changing to a double will be very easy. It has a McPherson style coilover that can almost stay as it is.

But anyways, who knows where i should start another post to better cover everything i want to do. Instead of taking over this megasquirt post,
