Now sporting a new e90 320dA LCI, i save up to 50% of the expenses i had with the gasoline ti. I wanted to drop you a note and thank you all for your great support over the past 3 years. A one series with a 4 banger and 6 speed manual with a good suspension would be the ticket. Never happen for us...they just think we are dumb americans. | | | 05-30-2010, 01:03 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Munich/Bavaria Posts: 91 | Damn, i just checked bmw.com for the us and confirmed: Only the 335d i see there. I don't get this, do you guys suffer from no-diesel-gas-stations or why don't they bring cars like the 2 litre diesel 3/5 series to the us? Though 500kg heavier than my ti, this 320dA sucks half the money while driving plus sporting super-pulling an reving engine, even over 120mph, (vmax is 150mph flatout) and the auto tranny is just like i loved it from all the 6cyl. diesel 5series i had before the ti. I got all the extras just missing on stuff like radar-controlled cruise/distance control and heated steering wheel, i have to say that the harman/kardon logic7 stereo is the ****. Nothing to customize here! Truly a comfortable plus sporty car, photos to come once my just-delivered alloys have been wrapped in the must-have Potenza RE050a's. The 123d is the ultimate 204bhp diesel banger ti-like car here right now. It would sell HUGE numbers if exported... Same engine as mine, just slight mods. By the way, for 2 grand you will get a performance kit by BMW direct for all 2 litre diesels to get to the 200bhp mark. Another fact that won't make me understand why you cant get it in the us. | | | 05-30-2010, 01:08 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | it's because BMW thinks Americans don't like diesels and it costs them a lot to get an engine federalized for sale in the US | | | 05-30-2010, 07:52 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Munich/Bavaria Posts: 91 | Hmpf, every american i know loves the diesels because they mean insane fun even when you can't do 150mph wherever you want. Really didn't know that this is a situation, even Merc doesn't sport any diesels. OMG, why that? Whats the gasoline station situation like? Could i fill my diesel oder is there 1 gas station per metropolitain area? | | | 05-30-2010, 09:03 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | we have plenty of diesel trucks, and there's no shortage of diesel stations | | | 05-30-2010, 09:15 AM | #8 | Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Munich/Bavaria Posts: 91 | Ok, would there be a chance to import a diesel Bimmer or is the Euro-Area too expensive? I mean, my new baby was listed 50k and after 1yr and 15'km down it is now 30k. Bargain! 40% off and 2yrs warranty. When i look at Ebay motors there are some diesels, but what to do with a 335d when you cant Autobahn the bimmer? | | | 05-30-2010, 02:27 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Lancaster PA Posts: 274 | For us it is VW's and Mercedes, and the 3 series with the autotragic trans. That's it! I have 2 TDI's that run like a top even well over 200K miles. Ford could have brought us their most excellent diesel focus from Europe, nope, they figured we would not want it? This isssue is discussed a lot on tdiclub.org. Does not make sense, GM screwed us for a generation or two with their crappy diesels in the 70's, and all think that we would not buy a diesel because of those memories. People have ridden in my diesels and can not believe that they are diesels. And mine are dated tech rotary pump models. Crazy I say! | | | 12-02-2011, 07:45 AM | #10 | Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Munich/Bavaria Posts: 91 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak sad to hear, but good choice, BMW should really bring some of those small-displacement diesels to the US care to leave us some pics before you go? | OMG, i totally forgot to link up the pics.
