Quit trying to start it, call your insurance and have it towed to the nearest BMW specialist (not the dealer.) Best case scenario, something got wet that shouldn't have and will dry out. Worst case? Time for an engine. That's one reason why they say never ever ever drive through water if you don't know how deep it is! Up to the lights is airbox level. Water is incompressible. If your motor sucked in a charge of water instead of air... -Paul | | | 01-11-2007, 06:36 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Cars = land, boats = water, planes = air. Choose your vehicle accordingly. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-11-2007, 07:14 PM | #9 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: NorthEast Posts: 91 | I think he realizes that he made a mistake. I am sure we can all attest to mistakes, small or large. I am sure that chastising him does not help the situation. On that note, I wish I had an answer for you. I would piggy back on what someone mentioned about taking it to a BMW specialist. Immediately pull your plugs and crank the engine over a few times to shoot the water out. Dry the airbox, intake and pugs out with a hair dryer and some rags, and then let the car sit for a day or two before firing it up. Sometimes you get lucky and could save it but unfortunately it's usually too late. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 09-25-2007, 12:15 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Fort Collins, CO Posts: 1,305 | this just happened to me last night, a combination of lots of rain, poor drainage, and an almost complete lack of street lights down in alabama caused the unfortunate chain of events. It's been sitting in the gym parking lot about 3/4 of a mile from my place so i checked on it after work today and it's still there. I have pretty much no time to work on anything in the daytime down here so i'm just going to get aaa to tow it to a guy i trust on the other side of town. | | | 09-25-2007, 12:18 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Fort Collins, CO Posts: 1,305 | ps - the water was only like 4 inches deep but it snuck up on me | | | 09-25-2007, 01:11 AM | #15 | Moderator Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: SoCal318ti Posts: 1,574 | Quote: Originally Posted by PettitWC this just happened to me last night, a combination of lots of rain, poor drainage, and an almost complete lack of street lights down in alabama caused the unfortunate chain of events.
