Default cat split from pipe, help

so my exhaust has been a little louder than usual for a week or two now and i thought there was just a small hole in my exhaust, so as i'm driving home from work i hear a really loud noise from under the car and it starts to shake when i gas it plus i barely get any power...finally get to a parking lot and i see my cat has been split from the pipe at the front end side..me thinks it split from the rust? or is there a bracket or something that holds the two together and it fell off? thanks

there should be two flanges at the ends of the pipe, it is possible the rust made it separate

it did not split at the ends, it split where the cat meets the pipe

looks like the pipe just broke off then, that's going to be tough to fix, it'll need a big, fat bead welded around it

I'm not really sure, I've never paid attention to what my boss charges for stuff like that, couldn't be too much though
