Mechanically this car is very nice. Cosmetically it needed a lot of work on the outside. Sellers picture. Picked up new tail lights, turns, side markers and headlights. It's now in for paint work to repair the large rock chips and some previous bad body work on the right quarter Once it's out from paint...next I have new suspension and some style 5's to go on. I also mounted the tires...did research on the tire size, but having regrets getting 205/40 to avoid rubbing. Thinking it might be to low once the coilovers are on...I'll give them a try, if it's to low I may try a different wheel and tire set up. I'll probably pick up a set of 17" style 18. I like the stock wheels up one size. I have been building mk1 vw's for 15 years and a lot of them were low. In my old age I've decided it's no fun as good as they look. With that said I'm selling the type 5 wheels. I wanted a set of 17" style 18 like the oem that came with the 318ti, but I picked up a set of Moda M1 17x8 et40. I still want the oem look, so I picked up a set of 70mm BMW wheel emblems to replace the moda...one wheel had the wrong BBS cap and I happen to have the correct cap laying around. These will just go over the existing. I need to order tires for these and hopefully the type 5s will sell quickly. Next up is 13" Wilwood brakes and an early OEM Pfeba sedan spoiler. Only issues is I may need to remove the rear wiper for clearance.
