Nonetheless I still daily drive soley b/c of the knowledge base and I <3 this site and wouldn't still have my car without it. So here's my dilemma: I finally shelled out the $200 to get the dealer to align my car. I just got home, and from 45-85 MPH my steering wheel still shakes. Here's my setup (all within the last 5K miles): Bilstein sport front struts Bilstein sport back shocks Front strut mounts Front strut bearings Rear shock mounts H&R sport springs front and back Meyle front lower control arms with solid ball joints Meyle solid lower control arm bushings Inner/outer tie rods Used rims (none bent/damaged) with brand new tires (purchased 20 miles ago) freshly balanced So I'm wondering why, after my $200 4 wheel "loaded" alignment, is my car shaking, and I'm trying to decide if I call/go back to the dealership. What do I do? Could it be the steering rack.. I mean, there's nothing else left to replace, right? Is there something I'm missing that could cause this? Edit: So could it be the specs they used for the alignment? I'd go there first, then head to the dealer. | | | 07-31-2009, 09:54 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: MI Posts: 204 | Quote: Originally Posted by gimp Have you tried rotating the tires? To add, I just called the dealer and spoke to the service manager, he said they don't know what it could be, he told me to bring it up there some time soon (IE it's 5 on Friday & I'm trying to go home ) and they'll have a tech ride along with me and try to figure it out. It's got me puzzled, I've chased this vibration through all the suspension components, and it's always been there through all 3 sets of wheels & tires. | | | 07-31-2009, 10:15 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Odenton, MD Posts: 419 | I just had a vibration through the front end that I chased for a while. Wound up being the motor mounts, but mine was only when turning right. | | | 07-31-2009, 10:17 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: MI Posts: 204 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 Motor/tranny/differential mounts, subframe/trailing arm bushings? | Really? That will make the steering wheel shake, and only at certain speeds? Hmmm... I think I'm inclined to believe you as most of the time I'm searching for how to do something on here, you're the one that answered the thread or wrote the how to that fixes my problem That just seems odd to me though... Oh well, I'm gonna go buy a new impact and get started on rotating these wheels, we'll see. Thanks for the help. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
