Default DASC boost level ??

Need a bit of help and advice, fitted the DASC kit last year, and it works fine, no problems.

fitted a boost gauge now and the s/c is peaking at 6.5psi, i know the kit should boost to 7.5psi.

is there a leak ? i cant hear one, would the injector air/breather lines bleed that much boost ??

any advice ?

thanks

mark

You can boost more just need a smaller pulley...I've got up to 16psi in the winter. Ask questions if you want that much but you will need methanol injection to boost that high. 10psi maybe without meth...smaller pulley will spin the SC faster making more boost

pulleyboys.com. I have a 3.4" and 3.2" for the SC for sale if you decide that is what you want.

You need to figure out what SC pulley you have now. If you can measure your current SC pulley that would help a lot. Also measure the crank pulley. Measure it in the belt grooves. I take a string and wrap it around the pulley then measure the string and do the math. If you give me your car year, make and engine I can also tell you what pulley should be on the crank. I can estimate boost with any SC pulley since I ran most of them with my setup before I went turbo.

I got 15psi on my DASC with a 3 inch pulley... methanol, too.
As per John's suggestion...

Car's a monster.

What advantages are there with OBDII vs. OBDI and software? Is there a kit for OBDI? I just want a little more uuumph. This is my DD and I have no plans to track it. Will simply adding a smaller pulley do the job? No other tuning is necessary?

Right now Im running the stock DASC 7-7.5psi on my m42.

Thanks..

John would be able to answer this better... nonetheless, I would imagine you'd have to throw more fuel into it (since you are throwing more air in). i.e. a stage 1 or 2 remap from Technique Tuning would be a must - otherwise you'll be lean.

Thanks Marko,

damn dude @ 15psi I bet its a torque monster! I can feel an extreme difference compared to my chipped 98' with only 7.5psi

My research will continue...

If you are chipped(OBD1) and running the stock DASC RRFPR you will most likely be able to just change the pulley for a 9.5-10psi one and get some extra HP/Torque. Same with ODB-II DME.

If your going over 10psi you will need to change your stock 19# injectors to 30# injectors and run a new code on your chip or flash your OBD-II DME plus run methanol to cool the hot air charge from the high boost pressure.

Get me your crank pulley and SC pulley diameters or string measurements and I will make a recomendation. Your a M42 motor so you have a forged crank and better internals then the M44 most run. Don't get me wrong the M44 is a strong motor I dogged the crap out of mine for 173K at 15psi

Pulled 7.5psi of boost this morning so i am a bit happier. i want to target around 9-9.5 i guess.

s/c pully measures 289mm in circumference and the bottom pulley measures 433mm

approx 100mm and 146mm overall O/D pulley

I might be a little slow answering right now while I do my dad service and put him to rest.

You have a 3.6" SC pulley and a 5.4" crank pulley. Your crank pulley is a little smaller then we run in the USA which is why your a little light on boost and around 7.5psi.

What type belt do you run? can you snap a picture of supercharge pulley and belts? Maybe a few so I know that we are dealing with the same system I'm thinking about and not a different one.

I just need to make sure your not running off the A/C pulley or running a 4-rib belt or something I don't know about. Your in the UK and I'm in the USA so I don't like giving bad advise and your crank pulley makes me think you have something different then I've worked on.

Pictures please

Best, John Smith
