Is that a what happen??

I finished the head work. Got a new head gadket kit for it. I put the head on and went to align the cams with the crank. When I tried to put the crank at TDC the valves are touching a little. It could be from having the head decked..

So I have to take it a part and get a thicker headgasket I will post some pics later this week.

Jon, When you get this closer to being done, I'd love to check it out at some point. Is PV doing the work, or are you doing it in your spare time?

Even though it's been a year, looks pretty darned impressive. Good thread bump.

Thicker headgasket is on the way.

There are still some other things I have to deal with. I dont live where the car is, so I have to travel a little after work. The only thing I couldn't do on the car is remove and install the valve springs. I got access to many valve spring compressiors but none of them fit. so i had the machine shop do it. I have done the rest.
I do all of the work in my spare time. I got a full time job, I make custom surfboards and do surfboard repairs part time. I try to fit atleast 4-8 hours a week for the car. I have been motivated to getting it done.

1. Head installed(use APR stud kit)

2. Fuel lines

3. The oil adapter broke and I had to have another one be machined ($20). I got that done.

4. I have to cut the box the wiring harness is in near the intake. The intake for the S/C needs some more room.

Sounds like a good project. Whenever you have a head refaced, ALWAYS take a measurement before and after to account for the amount of material removed. Sometimes the valves will clear, but if you don't compensate by using a thicker gasket or even multiple gaskets, your compression will go up significantly into the danger zone. It kills me when I see people have to go through this procedure twice.

I did, just thought I'd mention that for anyone else that might be performing headwork.

Well here is what is going on.

I couldnt get the intake of the S/C in beacause the is no room to angle it in(the manual has the engine out of the car). So i was preping the car to pull the motor out a little. Then all hell broke loose.

I bought that 96 TI for $1600(I couldnt pass that up). Its a 1996 sport and its body is in better condition than mine. I was just going to use for parts. Now I am using it to put the other engine in. It has no EMISSION CONTROL-AIR PUMP.

So the 97' S/C m44 (50000miles)goes in the 96. The 96 m44 is going to get rebuilt with?????? dunno yet

thats it for now

got some more done, I am thinking about putting the motor in this weekend.
Put the 12lb flywheel on with the upgraded m3 clutch.
