Red face SRS Light on

I know this has been said many times before and you can call me a (insert your own words).

Replaced some instrument lights this afternoon - battery disconnected, out with the drivers airbag, steering wheel off, etc.

Reassemble and before replacing the steering wheel I reconnected the battery, just to check that the replacement lights were working.

Yes they were so disconnect battery again, refit steering wheel and airbag.

Reconnect the battery - Great - everything works BUT the SRS light stays on. OK so I know why (because I powered up before replacing the airbag so the SRS system sensed a fault).

Assuming there's no actual fault on my system. is there any way of resetting the light without buying a tool or undertaking an expensive visit to the BMW agent ?

Please keep expletives mild and offer a twit some help !

Sorry - but my other car is a 1935 Austin Ten which is far less technical to service !

I did almost the same thing and mine has been on for a couple years. I disconnected the passenger seat sensor with the ignition on. Doh! The local dealer wanted $120 to just reset the light! I laughed at the service guy and left.

Question

Thanks - reading around it seems it is a common problem - which keeps BMW dealers in business !

With the service interval reset tool, I have seen somewhere that you can jumper the wires across in the connector under the hood - but haven't seen this with the airbag light so far. May be it's more complicated that just jumping wires ?

Does anyone know ?
