Default engine cut out while driving

im having real pbms with my 98 ti not only is the idle rough just coughson idle when you stop .but when driving on the motorway the engine looses power maybe for about 2 seconds and the picks up again this is a intermitant pbm

im getting no engine light on i have carried out a full service including fuel filter cleaned icv out with petrol i did have a split rocker cover hose thats been replaced , i see a lot of people are having pbms with rough running , this is my second ti that has the cut out pbm.

any ideas

the car is giving me the hump, where is the ecu situated

I'm not sure what a "rocker cover hose" is, but I'd check the rubber boot that goes from the airbox to the engine, if that's what you were talking about, just ignore me welcome to the forum btw

Mine did this when the air tube form the Air flow sensor to the throttle body developed cracks on the bottom side between the bellows segments.

Caused a CEL for O2 sensor when it did it....
