Will I have any problems fitting the 735i’s rear calipers on the ti rotors because of the different sizes? 2. Must I use OEM rear calipers or can I use aftermarket ones like ATE or Centric? Aftermarket seem to be plentiful. Thanks in advance | | | 09-26-2014, 02:51 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Kansas City Posts: 38 | ti rear caliper upgrades Sure has been nice of people to respond so quickly. I am in the middle of this myself and am likely to use the E34 525i rear calipers since they use 38mm pistons over the 34mm of the ti. I will be breaking down everything I've personally done in a different thread and give a report on it when finished, along with the link posted here. In the meantime, what were your results over these past years? Last edited by Hotredti; 09-26-2014 at 02:16 PM. Reason: Wrong Piston Diameter (was 36). | | | 09-26-2014, 04:30 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | I have been running the e46 front & e34 rear setup for over a year and have been very happy... It is a very good setup and maintains the front/rear bias nicely while upping the brake power. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Using 1 series rotors for the rear (fit like a glove, same dimensions and ebrake is fully functional). Unfortunately I don't have the files for them or the means to duplicate them. It's do-able tho. It's been about a year or a little more than a year with this setup. Very nice setup; sharp. I am going for a BMW Lego assembly only, using factory parts. Everything up front is factory M3 with the M3 master cylinder and non-traction control '95 318i M12-M10 hard brake line to adapt the master cylinder to the stock '98 ABS pump. Had to curl the line in a loop to install since the M10 fitting is on the top at MC and M12 is at the ABS pump. I am getting the rear E34 Calipers after work and installing this weekend. I think that is going to be a fairly painless setup. | | | 10-26-2014, 11:52 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2014 Location: Estonia Posts: 1 | I have also upgraded my front brakes to e46 330 ones (325x25). Bolton solutin and works very well. But in the rear i have still drum brake. I want to change drum brakes out since i visit track sometimes and i have already 323ti trailing arms with hubs. I need carriers, caliber housings, rotors, pads. Do i understand right: If i take original TI carrier and put there e32 735i or e34 M5 caliber housing then its all bolton and i can use original TI rotor 272x10mm? Or i can use e34 m5 300X10mm rotor? Or some another model rotor? Or are theres some other cheap solutions like mixing up another models carriers and caliber housings? In my country, m3 and z models are rare and expensives. | | | 10-27-2014, 08:02 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: Mar 2014 Location: Marietta, GA Posts: 30 | From my understanding, the rotors from the ti must be used. However the caliper from the early American m5s which had 10 mm thick rear rotors, or 735i calipers will fit in the carrier, as well as connect to the lines. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
