Default Silly question

I will be doing an engine swap in the following weeks and I found a smashed M-Coupe (rear ended).

The scrap yard wants to sell me the whole car. I figured I could use the engine and front brakes but then I wondered if I can retrofit the dash and center console in the TI. Did anybody thought of doing that ?

I think you would have a problem fiting the coupe dash in the car. I know the sedan will work but i dont think the coupe would without some fabrication.. i also dont think the console will work at all but im not sure..

Yeah it might be possible, but i think the roadster dash leans out a but more to the windshield.

COMPACT

I bet it's possible with a little cutting, grinding and sanding. But wouldn't it be a royal PITA to wire in all of the new switches and connect the vents. Even with a standard e36 sedan dash, the vents are shaped different and the HVAC panel is totally differently from ours. I know the sedan dash has been done before, but I've never seen a writeup about the involvement. The shift console as well as the parking brake console will also have to be swapped as ours are slightly narrower. On the sedan dash, the headlight switch is a twist type while ours is a pull type and the foglight switch isn't integrated like ours. The headlight switch is actually mounted to the vent. The Mcoupe and roadster dash's look very similar to ours and would probably be much easier to retrofit into a 318ti than the sedan dash. I say go for it! It would be awesome if this works and like Mallard said, you'ld be the first one.
