E85 did some nasty stuff to the engine of the turbo FSAE car I worked on a while back. | | | 03-03-2009, 07:39 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | ALL the German rubber in the fuel system will need replaced. Tygon I believe is the replacement. Ethanol is nasty on butyl rubber. You should also consider a water separator on the fuel line. Injecting un-entrained water does wicked stuff under forced induction. There is a product used by sprint car racers called Uplon by Klotz that you can mix in the fuel to protect from the alcohol induced corrosion. Its kind of like Stabil for Alcohol and it helps keep the pump and injectors lubricated. Missing a couple little things like 2 woodruff keys, and the oil sump bracket. But I'll be able to finish the motor this weekend/part of next week. Then it's on to the bolt on's!!! Just had the oil pan hot tanked, and bead blasted. Oil pan -10an turbo oil drain bung, welded on by a local speedshop! | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
