It is a 95 with 142k on it. Still needs some bits (fog lights, bmw emblems...to say the least), but I am very happy with it, have put about 1k into maintenance so far, but bought it for $2400. For almost 14 year old paint it looks damn good... | | | 10-06-2008, 05:00 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: May 2008 Location: Easton, PA Posts: 90 | What products did you use? | | | 10-06-2008, 05:20 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | Borrowed my buddies stuff when we did his gti at the same time (This is what i remember) Meguires gold soap Claybar (can't remember the brand, shouldn't matter anyways..) 3m sealant and scratch remover Zymol Wax. | | | 10-06-2008, 05:32 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: May 2008 Location: Easton, PA Posts: 90 | Looks really good. I'm gonna do a detail soon. Want to use up all the stuff I have and then will invest in the 3M stuff. I do need to pickup a clay bar tho. I've always liked CLay Magic. | | | 10-06-2008, 05:35 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: May 2008 Location: Easton, PA Posts: 90 | paint looks really good btw | | | 10-06-2008, 07:33 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Posts: 1,299 | Car looks really nice. Really easy to do and well worth the effort. Search youtube for some videos on how it's done. You must wax afterwards though, the claybar will pull all the wax off. Makes your paint look and feel like sexy time though. Claymagic is the brand I use. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 10-06-2008, 07:36 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | Quote: Originally Posted by spidertri Claymagic is the brand I use. | good call, thats what i used, couldn't remember the name haha | | | 10-07-2008, 01:12 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | looks good, would look better if you resprayed your rockers and lower rear bumper with a glossy paint, other than that, the paint is in incredibly good condition for it's age | | | 10-07-2008, 01:30 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak looks good, would look better if you resprayed your rockers and lower rear bumper with a glossy paint, other than that, the paint is in incredibly good condition for it's age | The guy who i purchased the car from did it in the flat black color. I actually quite like it. I wouldn't want the glossy on my rockers just because they get so much dirt and grime anyways.. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
