It is an M44 car so I am wondering about wiring harness issues, instruments and engine management. Would it have to go to the dealership to be programmed after the conversion? Any information would be greatly appreciated. From what I have researched you have to splice some wires once the transmission is out to have the reverse lights come on properly and to have the car start. Not to sure about the ECU or anything. But there are a lot of write-ups out there to help you out. Haven't found any that are ti specific but all e36 models are fairly similar. http://e36-tech.com/DIY/5speedswap.htm | | | 03-27-2014, 03:19 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2014 Location: ME Posts: 18 | I would assume that the automatic has a control module of some kind. I wonder if it just gets unplugged. Also, does the instrument cluster "communicate" with the transmission module. It might be the easiest to source a complete 5-speed engine harness and ECU, but I am new to the 318ti??? It would be nice to keep the original cluster especially if the mileage has been documented. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
