She is quite happy now! Next up, replacing tranny and motor mounts. But I need to get to work on the restoration of my 87 635CSi as well. So many bimmers to work on, so little free time... | | | 04-13-2014, 12:40 AM | #77 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | On my way home from here; my black ti developed a very minor miss at low RPM's when accelerating. Also had a little exhaust leak/tick. Turns out this was the problem; It had backed out slightly causing the exhaust ticking sound. Two issues solved with one solution! __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Was about halfway through replacing the wiper motor, then got stopped when trying to remove the wiper motor/linkage from the body. The largest socket I have is 1" and the nut holding the stand-offs that the wiper arms mount to to the body is just a little larger than that (anyone know what size?). Going to make a run to Autozone tomorrow for another socket, then I'll try to take pictures and do a semi-writeup tomorrow when doing the work. Started off wiring up my period correct head unit. I then programmed my eBay BMW remote to my car so I have that feature back. Finally I replaced my PCV and hose so that should stop the last of my leaks. I'm almost ready for my autocross on Sunday. Just need to replace my engine mounts and transmission mounts. Unfortunately it leaked so bad while pulling a vacuum, I brought it back home. I knew I should have changed the Orings. Hopefully, just new Orings and a dryer will get it back to good. Getting a bit warm inFlorida with no AC. | | | 04-20-2014, 05:40 AM | #82 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | No luck in finding a M44 Balancer for Earl at the yards. They likely crushed the 318i I was going to pull the balancer from. I did find a few parts for my son's 325i tho, so it wasn't a total loss. including a x-brace from a 325ic. On my 97 ti, Replaced my engine enamel painted VC with a Black/silver Powercoated VC from Garrett. Very nice quality! Thanks much Garrett! Old VC: New VC: Duh, forgot to take a pic before I reinstalled my strut brace, All new gaskets, grometts and VC oil feed seal installed. Oil cap from Ed at BimmerBum. Replaced the cabin filters while I was in there. Confirmed a few of my Vacuum hoses in troubleshooting my P0455 code. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! Even though it's going to rain before that, the wax should help keep it mostly clean until then. __________________ 1997 318ti 5-speed Moreagrün 1996 318ti auto Hellrot (retired) | | | 04-25-2014, 12:41 AM | #86 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: SF bay Posts: 183 | Quote: Originally Posted by Coyoteh Got it washed and waxed today in preparation for the Bay Area meetup on Saturday. They visually inspected, smoke tested, checked the valves, valves work, system didn't leak. I'll drive around tomorrow until my reader indicates it is good to smog or gets another check light. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I'll install these. Thanks Danny! Either way, at least I have my ti back to meet up on Saturday. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! Borrowed a vac pump and AC manifold. Switched out all the orings and the dryer. A couple of cans of R134 later, I know have cold AC in my ti conversion. It was holding steady vacuum, so hopefully there are not any leaks. Also got around to swapping out my cracked tail lights for a clean set, and reset the sunroof motor so it stops in the right place. Decent progress for a morning. | | | 04-26-2014, 04:01 AM | #90 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: Santa Rosa, CA Posts: 407 | Detailed all the plastic trim with Back To Black, love that stuff! __________________ 1997 318ti 5-speed Moreagrün 1996 318ti auto Hellrot (retired) | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
