Default Hate Audi loved my old bimmer

Hi all,

Help me decide. I have an audi a4 quatrro. I got it for a song. Its got 130,000 miles on it and it breaks all the time. The engine and trans are great but everything else, especially electrial and suspention parts break.

Don't get me wrong, I like to drive it, especially in the snow. However, I used to own a 2002 and that car I _loved_. I've never driven a more responsive car (inc'l the new bimmers). In fact it was more reliable than my A4 and that car had +250,000 miles (after an engine rebuild). Just driving around town would give me a rush. My audi is a trubo and I miss the naturally asperated engine. I also really like the RWD feel. So, I don't have a lot of money but I can get at least $4,000 for my audi and have been thinking about the 1.8ti.

So, I'm not going to mod my car. My audi has a chip but that's it. I'm looking for something fun to drive that keeps going. I know honda's and tyota's are more reliable but I love german cars. What do you all think?

have you driven a ti yet? i'm thinking that would be the best way to tell if it's for you or not. we certainly like them here

EDIT: front suspension is e36 and the rear is more or less e30. the controls are simplified over most of the other e36 models (mostly to my liking). it uses the three levers which i think are the best damn controls ever put into a car (turn signals, cruise control, OBC [if the car has it], winshield wipers) ... intuitive stuff! gone on the newer models

What do you mean you got it for a song? Like a music video?

I've got a 2002 and a 318ti. The 02 feels lighter on its feet (because it is) and faster at any given speed--so you do get a great "sensation" of going fast even if you're not. The ti feels more modern and more isolated. But it does have great steering feedback and is well balanced. Like the 2002, it pulls strongly near the top of the rev band. My ti has also been very reliable, although I've only owned it for a year and a half. The trunk space is great.

Didnt all the A4s have problems with blown engines. I remeber that Euro car mag had two articles back to back about A4s and one blew its engine before the photo shhot and one did it during the shoot.
