Nothing ever seems to add up or make logical sense in a lot of the used car ads that I have seen. This ad is no exception. Quote from his ad "don't have money to fix." ??? Really? He is discounting the price $1,500 from the $3,700 which is what he paid for in 2008 because it needs a replacement radiator and a tow. A new radiator would run well under $200 (for parts only). So for just $200 he has a running car, or does he? Or is there more wrong with it that he is not disclosing? I agree with tiFreak the "amateur mechanic" should pay for it. But when he says "amateur mechanic" does he really mean a inexperienced friend doing the work for him? Next quote "Will trade for running car (VW Scirocco, VW Bug, BMW 2002, old Land Cruiser,...)" ??? Well you had better be a decent do it yourself mechanic or at least be willing to pay a mechanic if you want to own any of those vehicles. Any one of those older vehicles is going to have many unknown issues and is going to require huge amounts of TLC and repairs from day one, far more than his simple $200 radiator fix. You would be trading a known problem on the car you currently own for somebody else’s unknown problems on their used car. (I personally have owned 3 of the 4 cars on his list) If all he really wants is a running car fix what you have, It would be cheaper in the long run. |
