When i say that i really mean it. Idiot was gonna charge me $50 for just plug in a computer that i can rent from autozone for free. This includes just looking at engine bay and say what HE thinks MIGHT be the problem. Theres more to it but im gonna pass cuz thats different street. Anyways onething that he did manage to point out that there was water in the obd2 connecter under the steering wheel. I checked the ecu for water and its dry. After drying that dash with a blower for 30 mins he put a few tablespoons of gas in the tb after removing the air box and unplugging the MAF and tried to crank it. The car fired, popped abit more than last time. But never started. Mechanic gave up saying we will be chasing our tails all day on this and left. Now after putting everything back i tried starting just for the heck and same as usual...one-two pops and then no start. | | | 04-16-2015, 01:18 AM | #17 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Sounds like a fuel pressure or supply issue. Have you cranked it over then checked for fuel pressure at the fuel rail nipple? Be careful you don't spray fuel in your eyes or worst start a fire.. | | | 04-16-2015, 05:18 AM | #18 | Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Location: Orlando Posts: 42 | Quote: Originally Posted by xxxJohnBoyxxx Sounds like a fuel pressure or supply issue. But what i will do this friday is actually buy a fuel pressure tester to be certain. Until then any other suggestions? | | | 04-18-2015, 05:09 PM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by drfloss Yes, I would say within 3 mins after cranking. If it takes 3 minutes of cranking you have a fuel pressure regulator stuck open or clogged fuel pump screen or bad fuel pump. Quick question, how much fuel is in the tank? I would ensure at least 3 gallons of freshgas and if you got a bunch of old gas in the tank drain the tank and fill with fresh gas. My lawnmower won't run well on gas that is a year old, it is super hard to start and has no power. Gas is only good for maybe 4 months unless you put a additive in it. Then check the pressure by sticking a small screw driver in the FP schrader valve. If it doesn't squirt out like crazy then you have a pressure issue | | | 05-18-2015, 06:45 PM | #21 | Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Location: Orlando Posts: 42 | I am sorry guys i had a few things going on then had to fly to chicago for a job interview. Anyways i managed to rent the fuel pressure tool from autozone and thats a different story as well. The attachments didnt fit the schrader valve. When i got the tool those fittings looked awfully deceiving and as a perfect fit, but were slightly bigger. Anyways i ran the test directly by the fuel pump (back seat). Reading was ~25PSI and climbing really slowly after 13 secs cranking continously. At that point i had to stop in order to not fry up the starter or something else. anyways this is my car and i may have to sell it. http://s1224.photobucket.com/user/sp...ry/bmw%20318ti | | | 05-23-2015, 05:35 PM | #22 | Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Location: Orlando Posts: 42 | Ok so i am certain now that i have to sell this car.
