Its a bunch of hack job welds, rattles like hell, and is way too loud. When I dropped it off after the swap, the stellar tech said he couldn't use the OEM catback because there was no way it would fit. So he cannibalized some of the OEM exhaust parts and created frankenstein - a really poor job. I need to solve this soon. Thats why I'm considering the ebay setup I posted above. Other things to consider: S52 Z3 diff lowered I could never check his story by trying to fit the M3 catback because he said it was in bad shape and tossed it... I'm looking for a quiet exhaust. The current drone is giving me migraines! | | | 07-18-2013, 12:16 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Miami, Florida Posts: 483 | It will not fit your car unless you cut the exhaust and re-weld it again. __________________ | | | 07-18-2013, 02:06 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | I had mine done custom from the y-pipe off the headers into a single 2.5" all the way back. It is true that you cannot easily use the OEM M3 muffler, it's just too large to properly fit where the muffler is supposed to fit, plus it bends to the right. I have posted pics of my exhaust several times in various threads. It has no drone, is quiet and stealthy, and has a good flow without losing needed back pressure. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Looking forward to aft...that "can" that is right after the cat converter. Is that a resonator? I assume without that I'm going to be loud, correct? | | | 07-18-2013, 02:33 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Exactly. You should have a resonator, which will eliminate the drone. The exhaust you linked to doesn't have one either. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. The Cat is a Magnaflow CA legal hi-flow racing cat, with Borla Turbo resonator and muffler. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. I'm going to check out that website and also look at the local muffler shops to see what they have. First thing I will do though is put her on a lift and take a photo to see exactly what's currently installed. Thanks again for the info. | | | 07-19-2013, 07:10 PM | #9 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Be sure to save your old cat just in case. If your car is '96 or newer, you'll have post-cat o2 sensors which may throw a code with an aftermarket cat. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
