Default WTB: S52 swapped 318ti.

Hi all,

I am currently in the market for a 318ti, but to save money on doing the swap myself, i'm wondering what is available out there for pre-swapped S52 318tis. If you have one or know of one for sale, let me know. The car must be equipped with the 3.2L motor. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure he has an M52 in it not a S52.

There is a swap S50 e30 M on the Autotrader for 14K IIRC.

Red, work done, claims 275hp...in NC.

I forgot to save the link.

I really hope you are not going to bump this everyday without adding anything else to the thread. You will be hard pressed to find a mildly modified S52 swapped Ti. From what I have seen if anybody does a swap with an S engine they also do a lot more to the car. If one were for sale you would find it in the for sale section.

Well, can you or someone else give me an estimate of what it costs including parts and labor to do the S52 swap with everything needed including things such as suspension? I would like to know if I can afford the route of doing it on my own because I am quite picky. Thanks.

$1-2k: For brakes and suspension
$7-10k: For the S52 engine, differential, transmission, etc...

The cost can vary significantly based on whether or not you can do the labor yourself, and how cheaply you can buy the parts you need. Do you want a US or a Euro engine? That also makes a big difference in the price. Are you ok with a motor with 80k miles that came out of a wrecked M3? Do you want that engine rebuilt before it goes into your car?

There is a 3.2 liter S swapped Ti for sale on bimmerforums.com right now. it has a turbo though, and a lot of other work done to it.

I would say that if you want a Ti that is swapped with an S52, but appears to be stock in all other regards, with a beefed up 32x brakes and m3 front suspension you will probably need to build it yourself. There are only two very clean and "stock" swapped cars on this site, and I don't think either of them are for sale.

Wow to two things...One, being the cost of the swap and two is the fact that there are much less s52 swapped 318tis than i thought there are/would be. Ok thanks for the help.

I may be out on a limb here, but most people with swaps have done the work themselves. I'm not in anyway encouraging you or anyone else to undertake the project just to save money because if your not seriously experienced with a wrench, you won't end up saving any money anyway.

I'm simply saying is that the labor costs usually put the project out of reach.

There are a fair amount of swaps out there, just not that many S52s.

Snuggz (on this forum) has a s52 swapped 318ti. I spoke with him a couple days ago and he sounded like he was looking to sell it. It's very nicely done and no crazy mods to the rest of the car. Send him a PM.
