Default Engine Compartment Screening

Hi all,

After some advice about the engine compartment screening for a 99 318ti.

I just brought the car and although i was given the screening it wasn't fitted and i don't have the fixing bolts needed to attach it. I figure that as i have it it may aswell be fitted.

I've searched through the forum but can't seem to find anyone talking about this particular screening.

The part i have is #16 in the link below

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E3...at_insulation/

It doesn't show which bolts are needed to attach it. At the moment most of the plastic ducts and bits under the car are held on with cable ties and shake about all over the place

The only thing i think it could be is 8 of #12 the Plug-in nut but the diagram doesn't show if it is.

Has anyone fitted this and knows which bolts they are or has one fitted and may beable to take a quick look?

Cheers
Silverti

Looks like it just screws in to something. If it's being held on by cable ties, it sounds like the plastic mounting points have snapped. They may need to be replaced too if they're broken.

I have a feeling the sides of the cover screw into the plastic around the brake ducts. There are 2 holes there which line up with each other and its these that are cable tied together. The cover isn't on the car at all at the moment.

I was reliably informed by the dealer that it was on when he got the car, his mechanics took it off when they done some work on the car and never put it back on again. So in theory everything should be there if i can get the right fixings for it.
