I glued 2x4s together so I could turn on a lathe the supports that fit the cup holders. I used other scrap wood to make the support for the back of the armrest. I stacked a 2x6 with 3/4 inch material to get the height that was comfortable. Covered with polyfill for cushioning and then vinyl. I also drilled the wood supports so they did not rest on the screws of the bmw cupholders. Cons: This takes away the cupholders, I didn't use them that much. And it is not bolted down, so in case of an accident, it could go flying. Pros: Comfortable armrest! Perhaps heavy duty Velcro at the bottom of the inserts to keep it in place if a concern. Not necessary in my opinion tho. A larger version of the one made for the Z3s but yours looks better and more comfortable. 1998 & 1997 318ti Sport Schwartz II 1995 318ti Active Alpineweib III __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! That deal almost sounded to good to be true, so I'm glad it worked for you. I paid a little more plus shipping. I have to find a few minutes to swap in the working top and the new seals before it hopefully starts raining out west. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! I kept having water leaks in the front corners until I followed the installation instructions. I can send those 2 pages if you need them. Also, it is very important when removing the old gasket seal to not break the corner plastic locating flanges! | | | 09-21-2014, 09:25 PM | #236 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Thanks Kerry! Yes, please send it forward. Is it the procedure to set the lip of the gasket? __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! The pages that helped me the most were, 54 11 005, Removing and installing/replacing frame for complete folding sunroof. I removed the old gasket/seal by cutting it on one of the sides. The corners are plastic and so the flange can break easily. I also applied black weatherstrip adhesive/sealant to all the joints between the plastic corners and the metal sides of the cali roof. And some maintenance on the sliding mechanisms helps the roof slide better, too. Have fun replacing it. I really love the cali roof and especially now that it does not have any water leaks! | | | 09-22-2014, 01:59 AM | #240 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: SF bay Posts: 183 | ....found a new sound. While down shifting, 4th to 3rd I would hear a "poop," like a REALLY loud miss fire / piston blow-by. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
