I am looking to redo my headliner this week. I am going the same route as you by doing black microfiber. What kind did you buy? I want to make sure I know what to look for. It was enough to do the headliner, A-pillars, sunroof, sunroof motor cover, and a little bit to spare. __________________ -Jeff | | | 11-10-2008, 08:13 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: five0two Posts: 30 | what are all of the materials you used? as far as getting the material to stick on the headliner. | | | 11-10-2008, 09:48 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | 3m 90 adhesive, got it at lowes. __________________ -Jeff | | | 11-11-2008, 12:27 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Posts: 1,299 | None of the stores in my town have black suede. So I looked online and I am little confused on which suede to get. I want it to look right and not look like it belongs as dress material or for drapes. S could you help me out Xeno?? Here are two links to the ones I am looking at. It is only 10 dollars a yard and the other stuff is designer and costs 18 dollars a yard. I think I will save the money since it will look good either way. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 11-12-2008, 11:14 PM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: usa Posts: 17 | How did you do the sunroof panel? Once you have the headliner off you unscrew all the screws that hold the sunroof assembly in and take it out the hatch and the sunroof panel will unscrew out the top of the assembly. Theres one bolt in the sunroof motor housing that you need to remove before the assembly will come down. It took me a little longer to find that one. Pretty simple though. __________________ | | | 11-13-2008, 12:00 AM | #13 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: usa Posts: 17 | Quote: Originally Posted by TI-driftin I know this question is not directed to me, but to answer your question, Yes. But how come this guy's instruction is kinda complicated and 100% reverse of your method. http://www.bimmerdiy.com/diy/e36sunroof/ What is your thought? Thanks, | Just skimming through that it looks like you want to follow his directions if your repairing it because there is no need to remove the headliner to get to the tracks. It would be quicker because you dont have to remove headliner and all the crap holding the headliner in. If you are going to replace your headliner anyways i would use my method. I didn't even remove the sunroof from the assembly. All i did was slide the cover all the way back so that when i pulled the assembly down from the roof I could access the panel that I wanted to cover. (Or in my case painted cuz i ran out of material) Keep in mind when i refer to "assembly" I mean that whole huge thing. It takes up the whole roof not just where the sunroof is. __________________ | | | 11-13-2008, 02:00 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Peoria, IL Posts: 256 | Actually here is a pic of the assembly after i removed it. I think if you check my posts I have a thread on my headliner. Xenocide, Sorry for jacking your thread. The microfiber is lookin good. What exactly are you planning to do with the bluetooth? __________________ | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
