Just came across this on one of the dark side forums Just trying to make sense of it...Anyone have anyviews? I was under the impression a m44 318ti was simply that and there are no variences in engine just appearence (ie sport with sport seats etc etc) QUOTE Try to find an M-Tec M44 that similar to the one in mine. I have (according to the annexure in the owners manual) 125kw which is about 165HP. Mine you tho, my car weighs about 1200kgs, as its a compact, and I am sure the 318i is a bit heavier. This is a pretty expensive mod tho, as I belive that this engine was (OMG NO, it can be!!!!!!!*sarcasm*) only released (in M-Tec form) in the UK and Aust, and not in the U.S. You would need to change the ECU as well QUOTE So i asked him EXACTLY wot engine he had and the reply was QUOTE Yes, I have an M44, BUT, here there were 2 varaints. The standard version and the M-Tec version. The M-Tec came with some exhaust and intake modification, and it was fuel mapped different. Its like a 'beefed up' M44. The standard power output from a M44 is 103KW, and the M-tec version is 125KW. It has the same guts, but a higher power output. QUOTE If the guy that wrote this uses this site too and iv ripped ya post off apologise just clearing some stuff up!! | | | 05-15-2007, 05:27 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | only thing that comes to mind is a 2.1L Build. that's pushes the Hp to around 165-170. but I think that irrelevent here. | | | 05-15-2007, 05:48 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: dorchester Posts: 700 | Cheers mate thats wot i was thinking.. Anyways going 2100cc isn't hard, parts wise...and if you know engine building you can build one up in a week's time or over a weekend if your really good. | | | 05-16-2007, 01:24 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Ireland Posts: 382 | panzer dude im not saying anything about the stroker... i know of it and all that im just refering to the magical 25bhp from a modified exhaust and intake ? ? ? and the chances that it exists ? __________________ ............................. ..........1999 318iS Coupe..........
