The mechanic showed up today looked at the Ti. He says he is just gonna replace the lock cylinder. He says there's no need to replace the lock assembly. I don't about this but it thought i was suppose to replace the assembly, the cylinder, and the EWS ring antenna. Let me know if he's wrong because if he is im gonna bring it up. | | | 04-16-2008, 12:49 AM | #37 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | BUMP..... So can someone tell me if i really need to change the lock assembly. I got another mechanic telling me i don't. He said all we need to do is change the lock cylinder. He's having trouble removing the cylinder so any ideas? | | | 04-16-2008, 04:13 AM | #38 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | oh boy. i have little to no experience with what you are dealing with Dave. but, if you want...i can talk to my boyz at BMW. let me know __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 04-16-2008, 04:20 AM | #39 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | well i actually started a new thread about this. Pelican gave me the wrong lock assembly so i gotta go to the dealer and order it from them. Now i have to look for a shop to fix the Ti. More money to spend, this little issue is gonna cost me so much. So if you can let me know some where i can get this done at a reasonable price i be really thankful. | | | 04-16-2008, 12:58 PM | #40 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | i know a guy that is mobile... i'll see if i can find his number today. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 04-16-2008, 03:09 PM | #41 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | I tried two that were mobile but had no luck with them. If your guy knows how to take the lock assembly out that would be good. If he knows alot about bmw that would be great. Because the guys that had come were confused as to why there was fracture bolts in the lock assembly. They didn't even know how to take the fracture bolts out. There is no way someone is gonna take the lock cylinder out. I guess this is why the guy in the dealershiop asked me if i had the lock assembly aswell. | | | 04-16-2008, 03:34 PM | #42 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | you just have to dremel the fracture bolts out. then you can take them off once the assembly is off. use a drill or a nice dremel. take it out yourself and save some money __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 04-16-2008, 03:39 PM | #43 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | Ha! i tried and i was lost, right now all i want it for it to get fixed. That's why i just want to replace the lock assembly and i'll just put in a new one with a new cylinder. Thats why i might just end up taking it to the shop, i'm sick of taking the bus to school or bumming rides from people. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | tURBO cHARGED tI! | m3outtanowhere | Air Filters/Intakes | 19 | 07-13-2006 02:00 AM | |
