Default "M" package ti's

I have a question regarding the "M" package that people are discussing. Some have said that the 96 - up Sport packages are all equipped with the "M" group. Is this correct, or was the "M" a separate option package altogether? I saw pictures of a ti that had an "M" gearshift knob, as well as a badge on the rear of the car. Are these badges stock, or did someone just stick on M3 badges at some point?

In 1995 the "M" Package came on the club sport model. In 1996 - 1999 the "M" Package was part of the sport package.

None of the TI's ever came with an "M" Badge on the back. The door moldings, shift knob, and steering wheels were the only "M" logo items.

Mine came with an M badge centered in the Spoiler just above the Roundel. I have a '98 Sport. You can see more pics at the link in my signature, but here is a close-up of the badge I mentioned:

I think he was referring to when people add the ///M badge to the rear.
BTW- I replaced my ///M inserts with Motorsport International. I installed it to the spoiler also.

Thanks for the "M" badge info. I am looking at a 1998 ti that I believe to be a Sport, but I am not 100% sure. It appears to have the Sport options and body pieces (I think), but does not have a rear decklid spoiler. Is this spoiler on all Sports, or only an option?

Thank you for any input.

The rear spoiler is an option.
