So my check engine light came on while driving to work today. The car is running just fine for now so I'm hoping its only my O2 sensors. At the end of October my check engine light came on a few days before my inspection appointment and I thought I was gonna be screwed. I was lucky and the light went out a day before I got it inspected. I knew the light was eventually going to come back on. What bothers me the most about this situation is that I just spent a lot of money on ($1100.00 total) rear wheel bearings, halfshafts, three tensioner pullies and Bavarian Autosport 8mm ignition wires, and brake pads and rotors all around. The original BMW ignition wires went bad on my car and the check engine light came on because the car wasn't getting any spark in the one cylinder so it was running on three cylinders. Naw, I'm actually a townie. Didn't go to Penn State, but something like 72% of my graduating class did. Kind of precisely why I went elsewhere.

tons of things...throttle position sensor, knock sensor, electrical fuel pump relay, fuel injectors, intake air resonance valce, idle control valve, evaporative purge cpontrol valve, air flow sensor, ignition coils, ignition timing intervention, cehicle speed signla not present, etc etc

lol ... go rob! yeah, it's more than just emissions, it's also proper operation. just On Board Diagnostics (OBD) that run and look for faults. of course, one could argue that they're related. if it's not running properly, it may very well produce more emissions. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles
