Default Got my keyless up and running but think I need a part.

All,

As stated, I got me a 3 button fob and was able to get my keyless working. The original was missing when I got the car and finally got around to getting one. I did notice that my fob will not lock or unlock my driver side door lock. If I use the key on my drivers side it will lock and unlock both doors and hatch. If I exit the car and push down on the knob it will lock both doors and hatch as well. Just will n ot work with the keyless.

I was thinking actuator but figured if it was that then the locks would not work as well with the key.

Any thoughts or if you have had this problem and know the answer and could help would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Freddie P.

If you lock/unlock the passenger door or hatch with the key, does the driver's door respond?

It does sound like the drivers door actuator is bad...

Thanks for responding wolferj. Actually unlocking the passenger and hatch does not unlock the drivers side. I had another car that did the same but everything else worked so i figured it was just a Ti thing. Looks like im ordering an actator!
Thanks again!

Might be the mechanical bar that connects to the actual lock. I've had mine come undone before.

U.S. E36s did not: they came prewired for a dealer-installed, Alpine/BMW alarm. Ack. What happened to all the pictures?

Side question, does it mean the actuator is bad if the drivers door remains locked if you use hatch/passenger?

Most likely, yes. Opening the car using any of the 3 locks should unlock the remainder.
