Non - M Hi all.. quick question. My non-m bumper looks like it is a 2 piece affair with a join where green becomes grey. Has anyone had this style of bumper off and can confirm 1 or two piece please? Many thanks | | | 10-30-2016, 10:50 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: SoCal Posts: 702 | Quote: Originally Posted by 2spicey Hi all.. quick question. Many thanks | From what I understand those are just two tone, still one piece, they came in the early e36's and I think only 1995 318ti. Not sure if anyone can confirm. __________________ ***328ti Build thread. *** Even more important: SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE! I was thinking that if it was a 2 piece, I could have fabricated a nice spacer between the two instead of adding a lip to the bottom of the bumper, (or in addition)! Anyway... the 17's arrived and I put them on an hour ago and I am happy with the outcome. They came off an E36 M3 (7.5 inch) so wear 235/40s ... | | | 11-01-2016, 06:36 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: SoCal Posts: 702 | That is a lot of rubber and heavy wheels to lug around! How does it drive? Good to see another green BMW around here! That interior also looks very nice and clean, good luck keeping it that way Lastly I was surprised for a second with the RHD, did not know that NZ drives on the right, thanks for the lesson. __________________ ***328ti Build thread. *** Even more important: SUPPORT 318ti.org! I weighed a complete 15 and 17 and the weights are 14.5 and 18.5kg respectivly. 4kg is pretty much 8lbs and I couldn't tell any difference after driving it today. Once the road tyres are past their best I intend to fit semi slicks, so it will corner like a BMW/Lotus then! I have been lucky in that the original owner was a mature lady so the back seats weren't used... she moved it on to a teenager who used it for 6 months to get his drivers licence (better here if ya do it in a manual) then sold it to me. It has all it's service history, every 6 months, since new until this year! Pretty good example with a few paint scratches... but the roof liner is fully attached! Perfect. This is on an early 1996 model. | | | 11-03-2016, 07:31 AM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2016 Location: Napier, New Zealand Posts: 22 | Thanks for the replys guys... you are both of course correct. Got underneath today and confirmed it so looks like the lip spoiler is the way to go. I love the AC Schnitzer style as on 'ti guy ACS's car.. perfect. I can replicate that easily so the next project perhaps. | | | 11-07-2016, 12:20 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: SoCal Posts: 702 | Quote: Originally Posted by 2spicey Hi again... the style 28 stock 15 inch rims weigh 7.7kg, the 17s style 32 are 9.5kg. Perfect. | Ya, 4kg per wheel is pretty much! I noticed a difference even between going 205 or 225 on my old 16" wheels, now on 15" 195 tires. But maybe my rear is a little sensitive. When I was running the canyon a bit more I for a little actually ran with R888's at 205/50/15 and it handled VERY well, mostly momentum driving of course.. we have no power lol. It depends a lot on power/brake/suspension balance. Big difference is having a LSD diff, with decent suspension, and a larger rear sway bar, the car with light wheels will be a fun car! Good luck and keep us updated! __________________ ***328ti Build thread. *** Even more important: SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE!
