Default Ti rally car!

Hey all! Just bought a '97 318ti with 170k miles last night for an even $1000. I'm going to turn it into a rallycross car for my dad and surprise him with it later this summer! This is my 6th BMW and second e36 rally build... The rallycar I built for myself is a '97 328is.

History:
I flew my dad down to Georgia last summer to race in a southeast divisional SCCA rallycross event and we shared my car. He was instantly hooked. Ever since then I've been planning on getting him one. I was originally going to get him the same as me but I've been really intrigued by the ti's and actually think it makes a better rally car than mine. But he won't have as much power (mwahahaha). Although my shop already is foaming at the mouth to turbo it haha.

My search really got serious around the first of the year but everything I'd find was either too expensive, an automatic, or OBD1. I found some good prospects using autotempest but of course any money I'd save by finding a good deal would be negated by shipping fees.

And then this past weekend this one shows on Atlanta CL for $1200.... It ticked all the boxes. So last night I brought my local shop guy with me and it checked out (i should mention at this point I'm in a wheelchair and can't drive stick which was another requirement for getting a rallycar for my dad and also why i needed my shop guy to join!) It ticked all the boxes, but don't get me wrong, there was a ton of stuff wrong with it... Luckily it's all minor things that would be changed with the build anyway so no worries there.

Being a BMW, naturally it started overheating on the way home too haha. Looked like some hoses weren't connected properly so we put some water in the tank and got her the rest of the way home with no problems.

Super excited to see the look on my dad's face and get this thing built. Pics of it and my rally car attached!

Thanks! Can't wait to get the build going... I'm more excited about the aesthetic look which is frustrating because my shop keeps me in check by reminding the mechanical stuff is what's really important!
