My question is this...can I run the 325i inline 6 with the 318ti 5 speed transmission? or will I need the 5 speed from the 325i? | | | 10-12-2014, 02:59 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Yes, you can use the 5speed in your ti with the M50 motor. I did just that myself and it has been very solid. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. And what driveshaft would work? and will the car throw a code and not run properly? | | | 10-12-2014, 04:02 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Plenty of people run the same transmission. I think you need to be concerned about the diff though. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 10-12-2014, 06:37 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | You can use all the 318ti pieces and bolt the motor directly to the trans... I chose to upgrade the clutch and flywheel, but you don't need to.. I have upgraded the diff twice.. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion.
