So yeah...looks like its time to pull the trigger on my swap. | i got a knock sensor problem too on my newly acquired TI. no codes as the car is completely dead just a printout from the latest smog test showing knock sensor fault. so a knock sensor wouldn't really go bad by itself? | | | 05-08-2015, 07:32 PM | #48 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: SF bay Posts: 183 | The fault code from what i'm looked up; and even started to replace parts is this. 1) the sensor it self is done = easy repair/replace. 2) the sensor is being triggered. Both of those throw the knock code. mooore than likely its a vacuum leak. | | | 05-09-2015, 09:13 PM | #49 | Member Join Date: Jun 2012 Location: Philadelphia Pa. Posts: 94 | I finally had a day off, Well not really, But a day off of work and I had to work on my 90 Diesel suburban and the 93 Dodge Diesel, But before I did all that crap I went ahead and pulled out the 318ti, Dusted the pollen and Oak leaf things and gave it a bath, Took it for a spin to the plant nursery to pick up some flowers for the wife, And boy this thing can be fun, This summer it gets a new BIG clutch, LSD rear and stronger axles ! Good little toy ! I think I am going to use an early one as I like the reversed kidney's. Added my OZ superleggra's with massive snows for odd ball look. | | | 05-12-2015, 05:51 AM | #51 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Artem knows what this is; I just installed a bluetooth enabled c33 head unit with all pixels and display working... I had a c33 with a bad volume knob, and I picked up a unit from Artem that had Aux and bluetooth added, but the display was bad... Combined the best parts of the two units and created a perfect 20 year old OEM stereo... Put it in Roddy (swapped ti) to stream music from my phone and mp3 player for the trip to Bimmerfest in less than 2 weeks... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Also. Started to replace all of my vacuum hoses. turns out almost ALL of them are done. and I cleaned / polished the inside of the throttle body. cleaned up a whole bunch of bits. | | | 05-14-2015, 06:30 AM | #55 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Quote: Originally Posted by erikerikerik Where do you go for all these awesome pick and pull finds? (There a 97 M3 in South San Jose...) I wasn't the first to the TI, but I suspect the first dudes on seane were Sedan or Coupe guys as they left the rear M-tech bumper. I pulled it and set it to the side to collect other parts and two other, not so friendly guys came, looked for the rear bumper, slammed the hatch, cursed and split. A matter of 20 minutes difference. I lucked out on the X-brace as the yard missed listing the E36 vert. I happened upon it by chance. My luck... Pick and pull's pricing seems to have increased by at least 50% over the last year. Not as bargain as it used to be. I need to go back as I need another harness for heated seats. I received the new OE heating pads to install in Wifie's restored seats. Once I figure out how to do it, I will retrofit all the non-heated seats. They rule in the winter. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! Actually I was going to use both, but I actually have a new HVAC panel I could use. I know I have other covers as well, just need to be cleaned up. I think I tried to buy a new spark plug cover and was told they were NLA. So when I see clean intact ones, I grab them. This one will go on Cali, I'll look for a spare for you from my parts locker. For your hospitality during our last meet, you can have them for whatever I paid for them. oh, I have the upper wire box cover for you. On me. What else do you need for Blue to be up and running? __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org!
