Smile Engine Error/Trouble Codes

I was surprised when I called my local Schucks Auto Parts store looking to see if they had a code reader (yes, I know they are avail on the web). They offer as a "customer courtesy" to read the codes and give you a printout of the results. The unit they use is "Auto X-ray". This is a great service $-saving service your local parts store/chain might offer.

So 5 minutes later and no out-of-pocket I have a list of the codes puked out by car so I can start addressed the engine fault light.

You can get the same results yearly if you have to get a Smog Check. The Smog Station can give you a print out of any errors your OBC is monitoring. This means there was a problem that either you fixed or some how stopped, but your OBC is still waiting for the error to happen again.

All vehicles made after 1996 use the same OBD2 connector. Most auto parts stores will do this as a free courtest FYI.
