Autohaus AZ doesn't carry it nor will they ordered it even if it's drop shipped. Pelican wants like 245, and bimmer bum is ~185. Anyone else know of a cheaper place to buy it along w/the nutserts? thanks for the help, Dave | | | 02-21-2010, 02:16 AM | #2 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | You could also check with Tischer. I got mine from bimmerbum, no complaints on the price or service. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! I don't know where you will find it cheaper. Tischer is 180.10. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org Last edited by 1996 328ti; 02-21-2010 at 02:21 AM. | | | 02-21-2010, 03:14 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: San antonio, tx Posts: 135 | hello Dave---keep an eye on ebay---jhlassociates is an ebay seller---they are a shop located in indiana that dismantles z roadsters, and frequently has the x brace for sale. the parts are used, but in perfect condition. the typical auction price is around $125, and their shipping charge is very reasonable. i got one a few weeks ago, and they will have one listed every couple of weeks. go to a bmw dealer and order the nutserts---less than $1/each---but buy a few extra to allow for practice. there are a number of forum postings about the procedure to install the nutserts---you can get a slightly longer bolt/nut and collapse them using a couple of wrenches to pull the bolt down. | | | 02-21-2010, 10:54 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Pittsburgh, Pa Posts: 107 | macilona, you weren't kidding! that place has really good prices on stuff! thanks for the info on it! -Dave | | | 02-21-2010, 11:39 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Stafford VA Posts: 81 | There's one on ebay right now with an $85 buyout. The design looks a little different but the end points all look the same? super condensed ebay link | | | 02-22-2010, 12:08 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Yeah, that is a x-brace off of an early E36, I think they redesigned it because that version doesn't allow for access to the oil pan drain bolt. The redesign does. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 02-22-2010, 05:17 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by spidertri Yeah, that is a x-brace off of an early E36, I think they redesigned it because that version doesn't allow for access to the oil pan drain bolt. I had always wondered about that. | | | 02-26-2010, 01:25 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: San antonio, tx Posts: 135 | hello Dave---fyi---jhlassociates has one listed on ebay now if you are still interested. the auction will usually hit around $120 or so. the picture is a cleaned up brace and the actual one may have a bit of grime to remove, but mine was in perfect condition otherwise. | | | 02-26-2010, 01:59 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Pittsburgh, Pa Posts: 107 | macilona, thanks a ton for the message. i'm actually working w/him on purchasing an x brace and some other parts that i want/need for my car. i should have it all together by early next week at the latest. he is a heck of a guy to work with. stand up and a half! thanks for the info.
