Default m50 In My Trunk?

I got a hold of an m50 and can't find anyone with a truck available to help me transport it. I doubt it, but was wondering if it would be possible to put the engine in my trunk with the seats down? Also, my car is lowered, so my issue is extreme rubbing.

I'm sure it will fit. Put some plastic down first.

Be prepared for "helpful" comments from anyone who passes by while you're putting the engine in the cargo area. E.g., "Uh, I think that's supposed to go in the front." :-D

I think I would put plywood, or even cardboard, underneath the engine, plastic will be cut easily. I would use plastic too.

As for weight, I regularly load 500 lbs worth of landscaping rock in my trunk. Just take it slow, and the car will oversteer if heavily loaded in the rear.

You do realize you have 250lbs of unsecured metal right behind your head? Better hope there are no panic stops. Be sure to strap that sucker in place or bolt it to a mini pallet. Good luck!

Well I have the motor in my garage now and project 325ti is under way!!!

1996 328ti: I got the motor from a guy named Patrick here in Orlando. He says he used to build motors for people and swapped some into ti's and he said he knows you.

Do you mind if I asked how much you paid for the m50? What came with it?

Good luck dude, its a really fun project. Let me know if you have any questions, my conversion is pretty fresh in my mind still (Nov '06). If you run into an issue, I'm sure I had it too.

It cost me the time and gas of 30min. to pick it up (free motor non vanos). I got the head and block with complete internals, no oil pan.
