Such is the nature of message boards. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-02-2006, 11:48 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: asheville, nc, usa Posts: 82 | no the biggest problem is i can't spell, there is a big rubber gromet behind the battery box, thanks grm | | | 07-03-2006, 08:32 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Bremerhaven, Germany Posts: 977 | I get at least ten times more hits when I search for grommet. I see your point. I sometimes use Google to test all or part of a search string as it often suggests more popular alternatives. | | | 07-08-2006, 10:55 PM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: CT. Posts: 29 | I removed everything behind the battery and had to drill a small hole into the glove box. didnt have much luck going through the fuse box. If you do, its probably a good Idea to wrap your power cable a s...t load of times where it is rubbing against the metal. | | | 07-09-2006, 02:52 AM | #8 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: asheville, nc, usa Posts: 82 | not sure why you drilled through the fire wall behind battery box, below the battery box is a rubber grommet that is easy access to the glove compartment | | | 07-09-2006, 04:09 AM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: CT. I need to run 0/1 guage so I doubt there will be much space in the gromet especially if there is a plug there which contains the wiring loom. | | | 07-10-2006, 11:58 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Theres more than enough to run that thru, just do it neatly and youll have no problems. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 07-11-2006, 01:47 AM | #13 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Va Beach Posts: 5 | On the passenger side (US version) in between the battery box and the fender there is a big grommit that has metal lines running through it. When i ran my 4 gauge amp wire i ran it under the carpet on the passenger side. I took out the glovebox and poked a hole in the grommit and ran the wire through the middle of it. The grommit is perfectly located as my amp power wire comes out just in between the fender and the battery. | | | 07-11-2006, 02:45 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: London Posts: 120 | This will not be the same as on UK model though will it? On the UK model ( when facing the car from the front ) the battery is on the right hand side and running behind it is the passenger glovebox. This is where I want to run the 0/1 guage but the best grommit is on the other side. I might just buy a Stinger Pro grommit and drill a hole to run it as I couldnt find a grommit with my initial attempts. | | | 07-11-2006, 09:15 PM | #15 | Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Bristol UK Posts: 91 | UK model - behind the glove compartment is a fist sized hole that goes through the firewall and comes out behind the fusebox. It's crammed full of wires already with black foamy insulation stuff around them. I threaded my fog light wire through by electrical taping it to a Biro and pushing that through the hole (from inside the car) - then going round to engine compartment pulling the biro & wire through __________________ 1997 Moreagrun | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
