Default New BMW owner

Hi,
New user here
I just bought a 100,000 mile '97 318ti automatic mainly b/c I needed a decent looking car that gets good mileage. I already dumped the stock steel wheels with the lame hubcaps (BASE Model I guess?) & am ready to rip out the stock sound system. It has no alarm either and no cruise (can that be added?)

Other issues:
Driver's window is off track. Makes it a little tough at the drive-in.
Car is too fast? for a 4-cyl (How can I tell if it had a mod chip) & mileage is low - about 25 mpg. It hits 100mph & still accelerating hard up a long steep hill another 4cyl only hits 80. Also it failed Smog & had to get a new catalytic.

Other than that it's a sweet little car & gets the looks.

Nice site, it'll take days to go thru all the info!

Welcome.
The window is a sore spot.

Cruise is a pretty extensive install.
Anding an alarm is not that bad.

The acceleration doesnt sound off pace to me. Its a peppy little 4 banger.

As to the window problem, usually its caused by the plastic/cloth liner in the rail at the back of the door coming loose and jamming the window. Get this taken care of or the jam will cause the arms to bend and snap the connections to the window itself.
