I am looking at buying (my second) ti. The one I am looking at has holes where the fog lights would be. My ti has blanks in it. Does it mean that this ti either is missing the fog lights or missing the blanks? Or, did some come this way (ducting? ) I don't see a fog light switch...are the replacement blanks hard to find? | | | 05-12-2011, 12:29 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | you could probably pick up the delete panels pretty cheap from a dealer, I believe foglights came with the sport package or could be ordered separately | | | 05-12-2011, 04:42 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Orange County, CA Posts: 2,019 | I have fog deletes on my Ti that i got for $20 at the dealer. You can get the plug from the headlight switch and use that to plug into the stock fog light switch. Or you can do what I did and use another headlight switch to make a european style fog light switch. First pull us fogs.. second pull is fogs and rear fogs | | | 05-20-2011, 01:39 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2010 Location: Southwest England Posts: 379 | Quote: Originally Posted by Mad-Machine . I just used an ebay kit that said it would work for any e36. Its wired so that they only turn on if the headlights are on. they dont click off when you switch to low beams but that no big deal. Yeah it wasnt to bad definetly worth it though __________________ ***Derek*** ^^Lola^^ Pioneer radio/ Pioneer 6-Disk CD Changer/ JBL 601.1 Grand Touring Amplifier/ Bilstein Sport shocks/ Bilstein e36sedan springs/ Green LED Courtesy Lights Accident Counter: 3... | | | 12-03-2011, 08:58 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2011 Location: San Francisco Posts: 15 | Fog lights should be wired in with the low beams, not the high beams. That is, if you actually intend to use them in the fog. Don't use your high beams in the fog or snow: you'll just light up the fog or snow and hide the thing you're about to hit. Of course, if you don't drive in the real world and think that lights are just for looks and effect, then do what you want. | | | 12-03-2011, 09:30 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Bremerhaven, Germany Posts: 977 | Quote: Originally Posted by Timberwoof Fog lights should be wired in with the low beams, not the high beams. | Some day you may hit an even thicker fog in which you regret even that wiring. Well, I hope not as it's not the sort of fog you want to get caught in. In these parts, the front fog lights should, and by law, must be wired so that you can switch them on and everything else off. Otherwise, even the low beams will blind you. The one thing else a European 'ti can do is have th e regular headlights on without the front fog lights. If I remember correctly, U.S. models are wired to partly-have front fog lights because they don't have rear ones. We aren't allowed fog lights in good weather, which is why I think I might add cornering lights. Since 2005, a car may briefly turn on the nearest fog light to light the way through a turn. This is fun to watch as the UN-ECE regulations require the light to snap on and then slowly fade off. I did that once with my 318ti and the blanks went flying like bullets. Took me a half hour to find both of them afterwards but they were undamaged so I just popped 'em back in. | | | 07-08-2012, 05:29 PM | #15 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: 284 ridge rd Posts: 2 | have any of you guys found out what exactly caused your fogs to stop working besides bulbs, fuses, relays, etc? | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
