Default Outside temp sensor, location

Outside temp sensor, one that's showing temperature on board computer is located where? Searched forum and with so many temp sensor I am confused which one is this. Where is located (some says front fender)? Problems is when this sensor shows wrong temperature car have problem with start. Sometimes when outside temp is 70f my reader shows 25f and car have problem with start.

I recently changed coolant temp sensor (on engine head) and car acting little bit more better but every 3-4 days outside temp sensor read wrong temperature and then i have problem with start (car shaking really bad). When temp read accurate car start with no problem even if temperature is -10.

So which sensors shows and read outside temperature on board computer, and where is located? Thank you.

The OA temp sensor for the OBC is located in the driver side brake duct. This is just a little bit behind the fender. Mine has a yellow end on it making it pretty hard to miss when you take a peak beneath the car. I think that's only for the OBC though and your starting issue is unrelated to that temp sensor.

+1, I'm pretty sure the sensor that feeds the engine computer is located in the passenger brake duct, it's black and is flat and round

I have no idea why but every time my reader shows wrong temp car have problem with start (i even compare temp in two cars at same time and every time when car start hard 318ti outside temperature was incorrect).

3 days ago i had situation when temperature does countdown (it was 29 outside) but OBD was showing 40 and goes down by 1 ... 39, 38, 37, 36, 35, 34, 33, 32 and stopped on 31 (whole counting took about 6 seconds and i saw all those numbers changing)

So what sensor do i need to change, to have accurate outside temperature reading on OBD?

The sensor in the driver side brake duct is the one you have to change for a correct OBC reading. The picture you linked up was it.

It's odd that your engine has issues only when the OBC reads incorrectly as I'm almost positive that sensor is only for the OBC. My OBC temp sensor wire was ripped out a few winters ago and it occasionally reads random numbers when in contact with heavy moisture. This never causes any issues with how my car runs though.

I don't know how the system is wired but perhaps there's a short somewhere that causes the OBC to read incorrectly and affects another sensor?

Have no idea but drive me crazy. Sometimes car start really hard and works like it's running on 2 cylinders (and come up with check engine cylinder misfires), but every time this happen OBC read wrong outside temp. I even changed spark plugs and wires couple times but still does same thing (like said, not always)

Last week when i change coolant temp sensor (someone suggest me that here) car start acting little bit better but still give me problems. Last couple months I change, both O2 sensors, coolant sensor, air filter, gas filter, oil filters, bunch of things ...even cam sensor (everything because of this rough start), don't know what do do anymore.

I am 100% sure it's just some sensor (my engine have 85k on it) but which one i have no idea...

Hey everyone, sorry to reply to a 3 year old post.. But I am looking at my temperature sensor(s) and I only seem to have one... Which is the disc/puck looking one on the passenger side brake duct. I do not have anything in the other duct. But I also don't have an OBC so could that explain it?

you got it, no OBC means no need for the other sensor

Ok cool, secondly would a broken sensor (and by broken I mean ripped off the wires) cause A/C issue. The issue being its not cold. I have read that this is true.

The passenger side might since it serves the engine but the drivers side doesnt matter, after understeering through a few too many corners and cones at an autocross my temp sensor got ripped off and now my OBC reads -40 all the time, nothing else
