Smile My 1995 318ti Project

Hey all.

I'm new to the BMW game. I've had my 318ti for a little over two months.
Currently all my plans are to get coilovers, widen it to fit my 18x8.5 m3 wheels, and to lower it. I need to finish my rollcage too.

Any suggestions for anything?

Getting exhaust work done soon and buying a big wang for it. Battle stance is something I've always liked so wide and low with aggressive aero is something I'm probably going to do (that is if I keep it. I'm 17 and this is my 9th car )

I've been buying and selling a few. I've only had 4 on the road and only driven 3 on the road by myself. Just my hobby and passion...

I've went downhill in the last two vehicles, losing out on thousands of dollars but I'm hoping I can make a little bit of cash with the beam. I bought it and the parts car for $1200 and hope to get $2500 out of them when I'm done.

Thanks for replying! Didn't think I'd get any attention.

Wink

Update on the build:

I've started body work on the front fenders and did exhaust work (until I got pulled and ticketed for a ricey straight pipe, so off to welding a muffler on).

I have plans for new wheels; 15x8 Centerline wheels with 195/45/r15 tires. I know, small, but it's the same setup I had on my old Jetta, and the stance was killer. If I lower it more, it'll fit the fenders nicely.

Going to roll rear fenders tomorrow so that the badgers will quit eating my tires.

Plans for a Chevy 355 is also in store. I have ideas for modified engine mounts, transmission braces (for the bigger Muncie or t56 trans), and beefier suspension and rear end.

Sorry that I don't post often, being a high school junior and working 25 hours a week, I don't get much time to work on it.

Updates will come, slowly, but they'll come.

Thanks,
Charnobowl

Those wheels look like AC Schnitzer wheels, what is the offset/width? What tires you running with that?

Throw some more pictures up!

What are you plans for the suspension to run the wheels planned?

What is the offset for the "15x8 Centerline wheels"? Make sure it works with the 318ti, also make sure the center bore is also correct:
* 3 Series E36 = PCD 5x120, centre bore 72.5mm and M12x1.5 bolt thread. ET 30-47
* 3 Series E36 M3 = PCD 5x120, centre bore 72.5mm and M12x1.5 bolt thread. ET 35-47

I have seen 72.6mm or 72.56mm, so just make sure they are e36 compatible.

Of course!
The 18x8.5 wheels are Alutec (?) wheels, I don't know the model.
I currently have 235/40/r18, but plan to use meatier 265/40/r18 tires in the future.

My buddy has a 328i e36 which has a set of cheap coilovers. When he gets new coilovers, I'm picking the cheap ones up. Nothing really crazy planned, just budget fun.

The centerline wheels are made for chevy 5x120-127 models (they're unilug basically.) I'd assume because they're made for a bigger Chevy, the center bore would be plenty. I've seen many people run chevy wheels on e36'.

I'm hoping with 15x8, I can achieve a stance more like Mike Wooding with his hatch.

Offset on the 18inch wheels are +11 I believe. I'm not too savvy with wheels and specs yet.

I will post more pictures soon. I have a spare wheels without a tire that gives good idea of width and offset.

Update soon, once I get my other project on the road and start really digging into the bimmer.

Thanks!
