We now have these complete and ready to ship. These allow you to use the M54 BMW coils on your M42, eliminating the spark plug wires and existing coils. This solution is cheaper than replacing the wires and plugs for your M42! These are the same kits that we run on our BMW CCA Turbo M42 Race Car. These kits are a bit different from some other kits as they include the BMW rubber seals and washers for the valve cover as well as nylon spacers to stand the COP plate off the valve cover. $75 shipped via 2-3 day Priority. I also have a limited number of kits that include coils. These are used (low mileage) coils, but have been tested. The #1 coil has been modified so these are plug and play. $175 shipped via 2-3 day Priority. PM me for details. We powerdcoated the kit on the race car, but the standard plates are the aluminum finish. | | | 04-08-2008, 10:24 PM | #2 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | would these work on a M44? __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 04-09-2008, 03:25 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | The spacing should all be identical. But I'm fairly certain that the M44 uses a single wiring harness going into the coil pack, and not individual plugs for each coil. Just like the 1995 m42. That basically means that the wiring is not simple plug and play. Given how important having a good spark is, I'm not one to go into my spark plug harness and start chopping it up. There is another thread about this plates showing how to make the conversion on an E36, but again, I'm not about to go hacking up that part of the wiring harness. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
