Default Long time racer, 1st time on track with 318ti...impressions.

I think this might be better suited for the track autocross section but the traffic there is pretty low.

It was a rare rainy weekend at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway so i didn't pull out the formula vee and my key was somehow "misplaced" to my Volvo S60 race car SO....I took the MTech 318 out.

With no mods whatsoever and wearing old street tires I was able to pull off some pretty decent lap times. I am now going full speed ahead with turning into a full time track/street car.(posted parting out last week)

I probably paid too much for the car but I liked the unique factor and have owned a number of BMW's in the past 20 years including 2 e30 M3's, a couple of e30's, 2 M coupes, 5 series of all sorts, x5, z3 (with the 1.9) and a cherry 1985 325es 5 speed that is turning into a garage queen.

I post all of that to qualify myself as have driven, tracked and raced a number of great german cars.....the 318 was a hoot to drive!

Under powered when compared to some of the beasts on the track with me, but the revvy 4 banger handled way better than I thought.

I am going to get the interior stripped out for the most part and put in custom welded in cage, seats and harnesses and will keep the forum updated on my progress.
