Default Distance between rear of muffler and 2nd O2 sensor?

Okay, the benevolent, wise, and all-knowing officials of the state of California have decided it would be in my best interests to spend $1k on a new OEM catalytic converter. I've tried aftermarket (3 different ones) and still get the CEL. I tried the spacer-on-the-sensor thingie and it still came back. Now I'm going to just get a new OEM part and then I don't have to mess with it anymore.

Can someone with a stock cat measure the distance from the rear of the cat to the 2nd O2 sensor? My mechanic needs this measurement for the installation. My rear O2 sensor is no longer in its original location because all of the aftermarket cats were shorter than OEM.

Are you using the Magnaflow for a CARB compliant Cat? I've used them on my OBDI bmws and they all pass SMOG. I haven't tried a OBDII AF cat yet.

I'll try to lift and measure one of the OBDII TI's by Sunday if no one else responds.

Still looking forward to meeting you. My 97 blew a head gasket when I was supposed to meet up with you and James in Vallejo.

Problem solved! OEM cat came with the pipes attached so the O2 sensor just needed to be screwed in. Had cat installed yesterday and so far no CEL.

What was the cost of a new oem cat? Can't imagine it was cheap.

It was about $1K because I had to get it from a BMW dealership. That was the last repair on my list. Now I just need to do maintenance and cosmetic stuff like the headliner and speakers. It's taken me a long time and a few $$$ to get her fixed up, but she's worth it.
