so the battery finally died and i really wanna buy a lightweight battery but how light can i go without any starting problem?

The B106 is recommended for 4-cyl and some 6-cyl engines, where the vehicle is for track use only and weight reduction is the primary goal. looking online the miata battery is around 20-25lbs so im going with the 11.5lbs

didn't have any problems starting the car even after 10 times in a row on and off so is pretty strong for that small ass battery

nice. looks good man. i'm gonna take a picture of how mine looks like for giggles. finally hid the cables a couple weeks ago so it looks cleaner now. still need to make a cover though.

You can buy SAE screw on battery terminals so that you don't have to modify the stock battery wires..

If you have any kind of power draw while the car is off. Say you sit in your car for 15 minutes with the door open, you might have problems starting the car. That is the same exact battery I use in my track car and I use a battery tender any time the car is parked, and I always take a jump pack to the track with me as I've easily drained the battery starting the car and then not letting it run very long, shutting off, starting again. Like when I back it off the trailer, I've killed the battery enough that I had to use the jump box..

Other than that, been using the battery for over a year with no problems. It is the same exact thing as a braille without the extended warranty that you get with a braille.

yeah but i already modified the stock battery cables and i dont plan on going back to stock battery, and for the drain of the battery im aware of that plus i have leds in the interior so draws less power but thanks for the info anyways, and yeah deka and braille is the exact same thing, just different battery terminals and now the warranty is the same, 1 year warranty

I've seen web forums where the braille guys get all pissy when people say they are the same thing.. I think I paid 58$ for my 'power crank' branded deka battery. The only difference before was the warranty, so now, with the same warranty, there is no reason to buy a braille. They are just including the SAE battery posts that I posted already attached on the brailles.

You may have some issues with cranking power on very cold days if the car has sat for a day or two.. For the price, you can easily pick up one of the 16 or 18# batteries for the colder times of the year, and keep which ever one is out of the car on a battery tender mini to keep it in good shape. These things will last a long time if you put them on a battery tender frequently.

Without the tender, it might die in a year or two based on some threads I've read on bimmerforums. But, that usually happens once you let the battery completely discharge. I've never let mine do that. In Florida, the summer heat kills stock batteries every three to four years anyway. So it is still cheaper to use one of these AGM batteries even if you have to replace it twice as often.
