Question What battery are you using?

Ok so I know I can search and find out specs for what my baby needs, but I want to ask everyone here what they prefere brand wise and what gives out ti's that true OEM fitment. So please remember to add serial #s or exact sizes since I know there is very little databases out there that are helpful at all with out ti's. I know for example sears says that there are no batteries for our cars.

I use a Wal-Mart store brand battery. I'll post the specs. tomorrow. I like it because its just short enough for the battery box top to fit. I've had a couple different brands which were supposed to be the proper size and they were too tall. The battery box top would not snap on.

I believe it's a Group 48/91 battery (check the depth on your battery box to be sure). Not many places stock this; it might be a special order.

Additionally, you might want to bookmark this- it's indispensable when you're relocating a battery or doing a custom application.

Ok, I have heard of wal-Mart brand being a nice fit. But does it have the longevity of the major brands? Also I have an orielly's, pep boys and sears to get a battery at locally.

I got a duralast from autozone. It had a 2 year free replacement, 7 year proration when I bought it, that's why I got suckered in. Really good deal, I think it has 9xx CCA's. Perfect fit. Hasn't let me down yet.

I've had good luck with Wal Mart batteries in several cars. I just assume that the price is good, coming from Wal Mart.

Yeah jean I know about your 11lb battery. I will probably go that route later after I finish my rebuild of my new car

my track car has a 48-91 1 Autocraft Platinum in it, fit's perfect inside the battery box. my purple ti has a Mercedes Benz battery in it, it's too tall for the battery box to close correctly but if the Sharpie on top of it is to be believed it's been in my car since '06 which is pretty good life for a battery

EverStart 48-3 is what I have from WalMart.

I was under the impression that most common retail batteries in the US market are made by either Exide or Johnson Controls. So whether you go to NAPA, AutoZone, WalMart, etc., you're not really getting anything much different from another store. Different "market levels" and warranties yes, but they are still basically the same product.

I have the current 70Ah BMW AGM battery, which fits the battery tray as you would like.

It does have one issue, however, with the E36's old-fashioned electrical system. An AGM battery needs a somewhat higher generator voltage to charge it quickly. I can't get it fully charged over a 30-45 minute trip. I use a smart charger to top it off which is a bit of nuisance.

If I could tweak up the voltage regulator a few tenths of a volt, that would help.
