So I picked up my 318ti today, a 1998 M-Sport model w/ 123,000 km on the clock. Black on black, dealer-maintained, and fun as hell to drive! Pics to come soon. No wonder you guys are such big fans--these things are addicting, to say the least! | | | 05-21-2007, 04:53 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | KM in Ohio? OK, so I took some pictures. Here they are: I've already noticed a couple of differences between my car and the US version: I have a dial to adjust the angle of the headlights on the driver's knee panel next to the ASC control, I have the 3-spoke M steering wheel even though my car's a 1998 model, I have front and rear fogs, and I have no cupholders but I have a center armrest. Also, my car has no sunroof or moonroof, which I hear is pretty rare in the US. | | | 05-22-2007, 05:44 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | wow I like that interior | | | 05-22-2007, 05:45 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | if you have adjustable headlights. I bet they are made by Bosch. ZKWs don't do that if I remember right. | | | 05-22-2007, 05:45 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | you need to take the road over to Germany and run a lap or 3 on the 'ring and tell us about it. | | | 05-22-2007, 06:35 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Boston, MA Posts: 1,152 | Yeap I agree that the ti is fun to drive and welcome to the club! You also have side impact airbags | | | 05-23-2007, 10:12 AM | #14 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Columbus, OH / Geneva, CH Posts: 17 | Thanks! I really like it too, the red on black is so... diabolical It has the combination leather/cloth seats, but the leather isn't the same as it was in my other (US market) BMWs--it's less polished and smooth, but grippier. Is this what Alcantara is? Quote: you need to take the road over to Germany and run a lap or 3 on the 'ring and tell us about it. | Oh, I definitely plan on it... first order of business is getting some sport tires on here instead of the Continental winter tires that are on it now, then changing fluids, then it's off to the Nürburgring at some point this summer! Quote: Yeap I agree that the ti is fun to drive and welcome to the club! You will be hooked on mods if you stick around. | Thanks! I'm already hooked on mods from previous BMWs I've owned, but I think I'm going to leave the appearance as it is. It already comes with clears and a drop First order of business (after I get it off these snow tires) is installing a 3.45:1 LSD. Quote: [Lookin' good! And you got rims on them. | Yeah, I really like the stock 16" wheels on it. The Sport package with all the M-Technic goodies really does wonders for the appearance. I plan on getting some cheap steelies and mounting the winter tires on those, and putting the sport tires on the stock alloys. As far as I can tell, rear fogs are basically like a bright version of the lights that come on in the rear when you have the headlights on, although I haven't had a chance to use them because it hasn't been foggy here (and in Switzerland, you can get a ticket if you have your fog lights on and there's no fog). Side-impact airbags weren't available on US-market 318ti's? | | | 05-23-2007, 11:27 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: OKC, Oklahoma Posts: 387 | bad ass interior!!! | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
