Random Acceleration Bursts....Rough Idling

I have a '98 318ti, and for the past month or so, the check engine light will come on at random times while driving and almost immediately will the car begin to accelerate in bursts while i'm driving. It doesn't happen in any specific gears. Anybody have any idea what it could be before I take it to the shop? I did some code readings and apparently I may or may not have a faulty fuel injector...could this be a possible cause?

I would check the fuel injector.

Even though my car is swapped, I experienced similar things last fall when driving on the highway from time to time before my car finally quit on me. Long story short, my DME was getting wet for some time and finally quit on me.
Im hoping I can attribute mine to that but im still in the middle of getting it running again so I can't say for sure.

Let me know what you find out, it might help me with my problem if in fact it wasn't the DME.
