Default WILL THIS CLUTCH FIT MY 328 COMPACT? 330I E46

I can get hold of a brand new sachs clutch kit for a E46 330i, and want to put it on compact with the M52 engine in, im pretty sure it fits as iv heard but i want to make sure 100 percent, does anyone know if this clutch will fit mine? i think the 330i is the m54 engine as they call it, an im pretty sure its the same bmw 6cyl with quite alot of parts the same, just want to know if the clutch will bolt up?

i went on realoem.com and it showed the clutch being identical apart from the diameter of the clutch plate being 240mm instead of 215mm.. i just dont want to remove the gearbox and find its different. if anyone knows it wouldbe a great help..

Um, are you getting the 330 flywheel, pressure plate, clutch and throw-out bearing in the deal? If not you can forget about it.

You'll need a matching flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. In most circumstances you cannot mix parts here.

From experience I suggest getting matching parts for the engine. The stock trans will work with any e36 clutch set.

If you do it wrong, its a huge pain to do it again. (ask me how I know...)

ahh ok , the kit includes pressure plate , friction plate and release bearing, but i have the 328 e36 flywheel and standard Ti flywheel, is there not a chance it could fit?

There is always a chance it could fit. I doubt anyone here has ever tried it.

Mixing e36 parts with e36 parts is one thing, but once you cross model generations, all bets are off.

My best advice would be to spend some time on realoem looking at part numbers.

they generally use the same pictures across the board for diagrams... so do not judge by the pictures.

Id say just sell off your FW's (those are worth a good chunk of change) and pick yourself up a nice M3 clutch kit and ltw flywheel... or if you don't want to spend the money for another flywheel, just get a 328 clutch/pressure plate.

The little bit you might save on the e46 330 kit probably won't be worth the frustration.
For more solid info, I say make a thread on bimmerforums ... im sure you would get a much better idea there.

+1. Trust me, these parts too expensive to buy the wrong ones.
